On the occasion of the first edition of the « Regards vers le Haut » day, organized by the MRC and the Centre local de développement (CLD) in the fall of 2014, the 14 municipalities of the MRC were fortunate to express themselves on their vision about the long term needs of the region.

Here is the coat of arms chosen for our municipality.
Newport has a vast, multi-faceted territory and to represent it well, the coat of arms is made up of many elements that make it unique.
We want to thank everyone who contributed to the design of our logo.
Notably, Ricky Parsons, Jeremy and Josh Martin and Rita Martin who won the competition launched in 1993.
Denis Palmer who drew some montages of the winning drawings.
And Normand Graillon who submitted the final drawing.
Newport is a large rural municipality in the Haut-St-François region in the Eastern Townships of Quebec,
where the hamlets of: Island Brook, Lawrence, Randboro and St-Mathias-de-Bonneterre meet.

The territory - an area of 269.95 km - is watered by the Eaton River and Sherman Creek, Island and Lyon.
The population mainly make a living in the field of agriculture and forestry and comprises about 750 inhabitants.
Newport is located about thirty kilometers east of Sherbrooke and stands out for the harmonious balance of its landscapes and architecture that reflects its English origins.
